5 years ago I went to a Mercy Me concert at the Strawberry Festival for my birthday (March 1st, if you want to send Reece’s peanut butter cups!! )

and as always.. I had my camera with me… and happen to see these worshippers.. I had to snap a few pictures of them.. I had no idea who they were.. didn’t even know they were twins as I photographed them from the back.. I waited til the end of the song and just slipped em my card and said.. “I took a few pics of you guys.. email me.. so I can email them to you”

One of the brothers did email me.. and I sent him the picture.. a few years later he emailed me again looking for that image and we started a friendship on Facebook.. I was delighted when he asked me to be his wedding photographer. and almost exactly 5 years later from the day I took the picture of him and his brother… I was blessed beyond measure to be a part of their GOD HONORING wedding… and isnt it cool that I snapped this image! I just LOOOOVE IT!

How Great is Our God” indeed~

Family Portrait Photography!

Just so you know… I love to shoot fine art portraits just as much as my outdoor locations… this image was shot in my studio.. however I can set up studio right in your living room! This is one of my very favorite images ever and I can’t even tell you how lucky I was to have caught it between all the pushing and shoving, and exclamations of ” I don’t want to hug her” and  ”I don’t want him touching me!” and the baby squirming to get away from it all… but as soon as I saw the 1/60th of a second it took to take this image.. it has become a very favorite of mine!!!

This image was  printed into a BEAUTIFUL canvas with oil painting brush stroke treatment applied and then custom framed! It really was one of a kind!  And they couldn’t be any happier with the final product!

10 years and 2 kids later.. and this was finally their day..

It was their 10th anniversary as a couple and their first day as husband and wife.. sometimes it works out that way.. trust me.. I KNOW!!!

Tara and I connected from the very first phone call, as soon as she told me her and Gene had been together for 10 years and had 2 kids.. we connected.

I know the story well.. its my own story too.. and as we drove to the beach for pictures after the emotional tear filled and love overflowing ceremony.. I asked ” so what was the deciding factor to finally get married?”  as they both chuckled .. and shared with me that today was their 10th anniversary .. Gene explained that it was just time.. that no matter what .. they were already a family.. he didnt need the paper to prove that.. but after SHE asked AGAIN.. he figured he better do it this time or she may not ask again! lol..  You’re one lucky guy Gene! So glad to have been a part of your day!

A VERY OLD blog post with a timeless message.

(written in 2006- I was reminded of this post the other day and thought.. maybe someone could use the message now…)

God gave me a new perspective today!

I noticed that when I walk, no matter where I am, I tend to walk with my head down, I dont know why… call it insecurity, call it too much on my mind, call it what you will, but today God gave me a new way of thinking.

you see last night was very difficult for me, someone I love hurt me, and it just hurts to think this person is supposed to protect you, but yet they dont. And as I spent last night in prayer and weeping..God held me so tight and became the father that I never had, He held me and covered me with His presence and His grace.

So today, still feeling hurt, sad, and every kind of emotion that hurts, I was walking to get a sandwich from the shop across from my work. …I was walking with my head down…

I heard my Heavenly Father say ” Melissa STOP looking down! Look AROUND, Look AHEAD, and Look UP!”

As I began to do that, I began to notice things I had never seen before, or that I have failed to take notice of before! And just then, as I was looking around, I saw a flower on the ground ahead of me, what was soooo strange about this is that it is a very grey, windy, overcast and dreary day but yet there was this Beautiful Flower…it was not a part of the ground, it was on the ground, there is no other flowers around, in fact there is construction going on, and much of it is bare ground. But here was this beautiful Flower that I would not have noticed at all, if I were not looking around.

I picked it up, and its colors were so beautiful, and I noticed It looked like a butterfly! The Butterfly represents “change” and “new beginnings” It was so beautiful….so I took it with me to the store, and when I got in there, someone said where did you get that beautiful Orchid? I had no idea it was an Orchid, I said “My Heavenly Father sent it to me!”

So my message is no matter how much pain you may be going through! God, our Heavenly Father, sees your pain, holds you in the storms, and sends you His presence in many ways, But He is saying to you….Be aware of them….”Look around, Look Ahead, Look Up!”

Thank you Lord, for loving on me!

Help me to be ever aware of your presence around me in the big and the little details!

I Love you Lord!

( this is not the actual image of the flower I found… this image is from Google images.. i wish i could credit the Photographer… But this is EXACTLY like the Orchid I found!)

Justin and Christa are getting married!!!!! and soon!

Who knew that a random ( and totally Awesome ) capture of 2 brothers at a Mercy Me concert in 2008 would eventually lead to an email a few years later saying “heyy…I think you took a picture of me and my brother worshipping together and and I would really like to give it to him as a gift!”

“No Problem” I said.. “I am sure I can find it and email it to you”   I did… and Justin and I have been freinds ever since!  Then his promise of … “When I get married… You will be my photographer!”

So imagine my ELATION when I saw my friend displaying pictures of himself with a young lady on facebook! I was absolutely giddy for him

..and then this status not too much after that!

“I asked Christa last night if she would marry me and she said “I would love to”  :)

they have pulled all the plans together rather quickly and in 2 weeks .. we will all share in the love and joy of their wedding day! Justin and Christa.. I can’t wait to share that day with you and watch as God blesses you two in your lives as husband and wife!
